Mining industry

minning.pngMining and processing of copper, zinc and polymetallic ores are conducted at nine production facilities located in five regions of the Russian Federation: Altai Territory, Sverdlovsk region, Republic of Bashkortostan, Orenburg region and Karachayevo-Cherkessia.

UMMC mining division includes Gaiskiy GOK, Uchalinskiy GOK, Sibir-Polymetally, Safyanovskaya med, Urupsky GOK, Bashkirskaya med, Buribaevsky GOK, Sibaiskiy GOK, as well as Volkovskoye and Novo-Shemurskoye deposits, which are incorporated into JSC “Svyatogor" (enterprise of UMMC non-ferrous division).

UMMC mining division extracts and processes more than 24 million tons of ore per year.

Currently Company is developing deep horizons (below 963 meters) of Gai deposit. By 2020, Gai underground mine will be up by 2 mln tons of ore per year increasing its volumes from 7.5 mln t to 9.5 mln t.

The second largest mining enterprise of UMMC – Uchalinskiy GOK is developing a new ore body of Novouchalinskoye deposit.    

Also underground mining operations started at Safyanovsakya copper and Bashkirskaya copper. That will allow extracting additional resources from Safyanovskoye and Yubileinoye deposits.

By 2019, 90% of UMMC ore mines will be underground. 

Additional direction of UMMC mining division development is improvement of ore dressing. Due to gradual modernization of existing concentrators and construction of new ones in the course of last 10 years UMMC significantly has increased copper concentrate and zinc concentrate grades, copper and zinc ore recovery rates.

UMMC non-ferrous division treats copper and zinc concentrates.
